Prior to joining the faculty at UIC, I taught a number of courses in sociology at New College of Florida and University of Michigan, including Marriage and the Family; Social Psychology; Research Methods; Sociology of Education; Women and Work; and Elementary Statistics.
At UIC, my primary teaching role is in the Masters of Health Professions Education (MHPE) program. I am course director for one core course and three electives in the program.

I also teach in the undergraduate medical education (i.e., medical school) curriculum at UIC - sessions focused primarily on inequality, identity, and bias:
I provide support and coaching on communication and empathy for both medical students and graduate medical trainees (i.e., residents) , especially regarding Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs).

Finally, I advise several teams of medical students on health professions education research projects. Study topics include wellness, student engagement, extra-curricular programs, and student experiences of the Step 2CK exam. The latter study was recently funded by the AAMC Central Group on Educational Affairs.
