Prior to joining the faculty at UIC, I taught a number of courses in sociology at New College of Florida and University of Michigan, including Marriage and the Family; Social Psychology; Research Methods; Sociology of Education; Women and Work; and Elementary Statistics.
At UIC, my primary teaching role is in the Masters of Health Professions Education (MHPE) program. I am course director for one core course and three electives in the program.
I also teach in the undergraduate medical education (i.e., medical school) curriculum at UIC - sessions focused primarily on inequality, identity, and bias:
I provide support and coaching on communication and empathy for both medical students and graduate medical trainees (i.e., residents) , especially regarding Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs).

Finally, I advise several teams of medical students on health professions education research projects. Study topics include wellness, student engagement, extra-curricular programs, and student experiences of the Step 2CK exam. The latter study was funded by the AAMC Central Group on Educational Affairs, and was published in the AAMC RIME Supplement.
